Blue Ridge Mountains
Blue Ridge Mountains East and se range of the Appalachian Mountains, extending from s Pennsylvania into Georgia. A narrow ridge, 15km (10mi) wide in the N, widens to 110km (70mi) in North Carolina. Heavily forested, with few lakes, it includes Great Smoky Mountains National Park, North Carolina, and Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. The Appalachian Trail runs across the top of range. The highest peak is Mount Mitchell, North Carolina, at 6684ft (2039m).
